What is the cost price (not the retail price) of a set of PING rapture irons with steel shaft? (4 to PW)?

I doubt you will get an accurate answer to this question. You can assume though that the cost price will be a fraction of the retail price. Our company uses a standard mark up of 2.2 times cost to establish retail price for items with no intellectual rights attached. If an item has intellectual rights i.e. specialist design and patent then we can multiply cost to manufacture by 6 or more depending on what the market can stand to establish sale price.
I bought a set of MD irons a week ago from a local shop that was closing down. I got them for less than 1/2 price at £120 and the trader was still making £30 on the deal they were origonally £270. Ping's won't be any more expensive to manufacture.

  1. Multi-Material Technology – Club composed of a 17-4 SS body, lightweight titanium face, which saves approximately 25 grams that is re-distributed in a high density tungsten toe weight. Properly utilizing these materials increases the moment of inertia making this the most forgiving iron in the PING line. 

  2. Maximum Perimeter Weighting – Utilizing different materials maximizes the perimeter weighting, which substantially increases the moment of inertia for maximum forgiveness on off-center shots, while generating a very high, straight trajectory. 

  3. Wide Sole Design – The wide sole has positioned the CG further back to promote a high trajectory and lower spin for high soft shots into the green that don't balloon in the wind. This sole design also provides easy transition through the turf for solid ball contact. 

  4. Deep Undercut Cavity Design – Cavity is parallel to the ground allowing more mass to be moved away from the club face, creating a wide sole and high moment of inertia for maximum forgiveness on off-center shots. 

  5. Softer, Large Custom-Tuning Port (CTP)– Similar to the G5/i5, this CTP helps stabilize the face by maximizing the surface area it covers. This, along with a new, softer compound, gives the Rapture titanium face iron exceptional feel and sound. 

  6. Exceptional Aesthetics – Fine satin finish gives the club a deep, rich look while providing exceptional durability. The “polished” back weight and graphics badge add to the appeal of the club. 

  7. New TFC 909I Shaft – Premium graphite shaft designed by PING specifically for the Rapture product line. This shaft utilizes high performance, lightweight materials which increase club head speed for maximum distance and increase tip stability for better control and feel. 

  8. Patented Flat Top Hosel and Hosel Notch – The flat top hosel is designed to reduce stress and improve feel, while the hosel notch controls the bend point for precise loft and lie adjustments. 

  9. New NTS Grip – This new wrap style grip utilizes a soft rubber compound for enhanced feel, similar to the 703 grip.
