Well, after six weeks without touching a golf club, I found myself with a few friends and a Tuesday morning tee time at a course down in Long Beach. The first hole was pretty straightforward… with a wide fairway and an expansive green protected only by a few bunkers wide to either side, the shot seemed pretty simple. Pick the right club for the distance, hit it straight, and I’ll be putting for birdie on a par-3 to open the round. Since I hadn’t swung a club in such a long time, I decided to use an 8-iron and hit it softly, rather than taking the 9 that I would usually use on a hole that’s 120-yards out. So I take out my 8-iron and line up my shot. Everything seems fine. My backstroke still feels comfortable, but on the way down, I could feel my club head move off of plane and I miss-hit the ball, sending it wide right as a nasty slice. It landed in some reeds near a pond, so I had to take a shot with a wedge at a weird stance, balancing myself on a slick grassy slope on the banks of a pond… the shot came out decently; it landed on the green… but it landed a ways away from the pin. Two putts later, I had holed out with a bogey to start my first round in months.

Knowing the game of golf, and how to play it mentally, I knew that I had to put my shoddy first hole out of my head and focus on the next shot. This one was difficult! It was a short par-3 (about 100 yards or so to the pin) but the incredibly narrow green with a pin right up front was protected by water on the front and left sides, and a steep slope with deep rough on the right. I had two options… Hit it long onto the back of the green and avoid the water and slope, but leave myself with a long birdie putt that slopes towards the water, or “go for it” and attempt to land the ball on the green in an area the size of a Hula Hoop. As a famous golfer once said about the Augusta Course in Georgia where they hold the Masters Tournament, “The shot was like trying to throw a football onto a sidewalk 200 yards away” … accuracy was everything. Since my last shot had been set up conservatively and turned out sorely, I decided to go for broke and land in that hula-hoop for a short birdie putt attempt. I took out my pitching wedge—the club in my bag that I’m most comfortable with and have been using the longest—and lined up my shot. I knew that the high 54º loft of my pitching wedge would land and stop, so accuracy and depth were everything. I focused on the pin, and could even see it in my periphery while I was staring down at the ball that I was about to hit. I took a deep breath and calmly made my swing. The ball sailed up off of the tee, landed a little bit to the right of the green on the slope, and rolled back down, slowly stopping on the green within inches of the pin! It was a truly amazing shot, and I made birdie on that hole by kneeling down with the butt of my putter and holed out billiards-style!

Now, I won’t tell you about the rest of my round, because it was terrible… but this one shot is the one that I remember. I couldn’t have placed the ball any better if I were playing with a pen on a pad of paper. This all got me thinking about the importance of golf equipment. On my first shot, I decided to swing my rarely-used 8 iron, which turned out to be a mistake… but on the second tee, I reached into my golf bag and chose the club that I’m most comfortable with, and although it was a much riskier shot than the first, it paid off for me in spades. So never underestimate the power of a good set of golf equipment combined with practice! Just because your driver keeps slicing now doesn’t mean that a new driver will fix it. Just practice, practice, practice and get comfortable with the clubs you have… before you know it, you’ll be making amazing birdies like I did on the second hole on Tuesday morning!

Proper golf equipment definitely helps get you back in the game! A sharp looking golf bag doesn’t hurt either.

Whether you play golf only occasionally or regularly you will be in need of good golf equipment. Every golfer knows the importants of having equipment that is of a high standard. However, not every golfer can afford to pay high prices for their golf equipment like the professionals do. And the good news is that they don't have to.

There are many companies and manufacturers that have different ranges to suit every one. Prices can range from budget to very expensive. Ladies, men and children are all catered for. Of course finding these companies and choosing what you want can be time consuming and mentally draining. That is why shopping online is a great alternative to the usual boring way of shopping.

You will be able to sit in the comfort of your own home and browse around not only one store but as many as you like. You will quickly find discount equipment and accessories to your liking. And don't think that being discount means cheap because that is not the case. Shopping online saves you money because the company is more often than not saving on over heads making it not only more convenient for you but often much more cheaper also.

Shopping this way for your golf equipment also gives you more opportunity to review the products on offer while comparing the prices as well. Shopping online can just be used for researching or finding the best product for you to buy there and then. It is up to you whether you wish to go and buy you products at the store or buy online. If you buy online you can most likely have what you want shipped to your door for even more convenience.

How easy is that? So, if you are in need of clubs, bags, covers, balls, clothes or even carts then this is the way to find what you need conveniently, efficiently and cheaply.

Choosing the right golf equipment is very important and it is not just about how much you spend on it that counts. There is a huge array of golf equipment available to day, both on- and offline so it can be quite confusing when you are just starting out.

The first golf equipment to consider is what type of clubs you should get. These have to be suitable for your height, weight and the type of game you play. Most people use standard length clubs which are fine for men between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 10 inches in height and for women between five feet and five feet 5 inches. If you are outside these ranges though you may need to get special custom made ones.

The clubs must also have the correct thickness of grip. When holding the club, the fingers of your left hand should just touch the pad of your left thumb and not dig in to it, although tape wrapped around the grip can help if you need to make a minor adjustment.

When it comes to putters you will probably want to opt for a centre shaft or heel-to-toe weighted putter as these types have a larger sweet spot than the mallet putters or the old blade ones.

Clothing should be smart but comfortable enabling you to swing the club freely. Generally, trainers, jeans, short shorts and collarless or sleeveless shirts are frowned upon but dress code varies from club to club. As you will be out on the course for several hours it is a good idea to be prepared for any sudden changes in the weather. Depending on where in the world you are playing, it is probably advisable to carry waterproofs in your bag. Hats, caps and sunglasses are other things you should consider too.

A good pair of shoes is also an essential piece of golf euipment. Most players opt for a leather shoe, which allows the foot to breath, combined with a rubber sole containing either spikes or pimples.

When it comes to your hands most players wear a left hand glove to maintain a constant grip. These gloves can be either leather or synthetic and should fit tighter than a normal glove. Another useful piece of golf equipment if you are playing in cold weather it is a good idea to use a large pair of mittens that you can slip on between shots as it is very difficult to grip the club properly if your hands get too cold.

Finally, you will need something to carry all this new golf equipment in. Golf bags come in a huge array of shapes and sizes from drainpipe bags that only carry 6 or 7 clubs, which are good for when you are practising, to an all in one bag/trolley which can be useful when travelling. If you are going to be carrying your bag then make sure it is not to heavy and that it has a strong strap.

Now you have all the essential golf equipment you need so all you need to do now is get out there and start playing. Good luck!

Getting the right equipment to play the game of golf is not that difficult. All it takes is for the person to look at the right place and getting value for one's money. One can check the local directory or ask someone for directions on how to get there. Here are some tips buying golf gear:

1. Before one starts buying, it is best to first check if that person has the budget for it. There are many brands available and this is sometimes the determining factor which will make a person do well in the green or not.

2. How often will the person use it is another factor. It doesn't take that much to maintain golf equipment since all a person needs is a roller brush or a small towel. If the person is just starting out in golf, the brand does not matter but it will later on as the person decides to invest more in the sport.

3. Most golf shops sell brand new and second hand equipment. If that person can't afford a new set, it is advisable to first start with a used one then save up for a brand new one later on.

4. Some people can't tell the difference how one brand is better than another. If that person has that problem, one should ask the sales person for help since that individual is more familiar with what is there available in the shop.

5. Buying golf equipment can be challenging. By looking in more than one store, a person can probably get a good deal or find an item that is cheaper in one store than the one down the street.

6. Golf specialty stores are just one place where one can get good merchandise. The other is via the internet. There area many websites that also specialize in selling brand new and second hand equipment. One can order it online and have it delivered to one's doorstep. Another way of doing, which may not carry a whole line of things for golf, are auction sites where a person can bid on a certain item and if one is the winning bidder, one will also be able to get it in a few days.

7. Some experts who have played the game for quite some time prefer to sell the old equipment to someone which saves money in paying for a new one. If the person asks around, there is a chance that individual will be lucky to get it at a good price which is a far better deal then getting it from any golf shop.

Golf equipment doesn't work? Did that catch your attention? I
hope so. Now keep reading.

Just the other day I was watching the Golf Channel and they were
talking yet again about the latest and greatest drives and
irons. This golf equipment (new technology) that has gotten
totally out of hand, is making these companies a ton of money.

Why?

Because they prey on vulnerable, frustrated golfers looking to
play better through golf equipment.

Here's my beef!

It's not working! I don't care what these companies say...I see
golfers everyday, buying new golf equipment and STILL not
playing any better. It's a known fact that the average golf
handicap has not gone down in over 20 years!

It's NOT the equipment that's going to improve your game...it's
YOU!

You swing that club. You show up to the range or course. It all
depends on your current physical condition how well you will
swing...and especially for 18 holes.

Is that registering with you yet?

How many new clubs have you bought lately? Did it allow you to
play better...consistently? Be honest. Don't let your pride answer
that question. Just state the facts. Are your scores lower? Do
you swing with better consistency?

These are questions to constantly ask yourself to make sure you
are seeing progress. If you're not...then save your money and get
working on YOU!

It's always fun to see the new golf equipment that's coming
out...but your game is dependant on your physical capabilities,
not compensations with golf equipment.

That smell of new golf equipment is pure heaven. The irons are sealed in their own large plastic bags separate from the woods. The shoes have those big wads of paper in the toes of them to keep their shape. And that new umbrella...smells exactly like a four foot putt for birdie the first time you open it and attach it to your new ultra-lightweight bag.

Problem with all this madness and credit card fury is that the moment most of us step out there on the first tee we realize that all the new golf equipment in the world can't save us from us.

There's surely an empowerment to hitting a 68 degree wedge for the very first time, but not if the ball heads directly at the marshall who's wondering why your group has now fallen a half hour behind the group in front.

And the problem is what the problem always is...our refusal to swing consistently. To take the same motion and to use it about 80 or 90 times when we are 'on.'

There's a sinister human condition that causes us amateurs to try to reinvent everything out there while we're playing. To find out own swing. To do things our way. And the results...well, disaster usually.

The key to golf is and forever will be REPEATABILITY.

Taking a triangle formed by the arms as the sides and the waist as the bottom of the triangle and using it ON EVERY SHOT...no matter how difficult a shot it is! Breaking away from the proper format means squat to the fella who just sold you all that new golf equipment. He or she wants to see you back again to get another 9 wood if the one you just bought somehow ends up in the lake from a bad cased of "loose grips."

Keeping yourself in the power triangle (as it is known) is a MUST whether you are driving, hitting a low iron, blasting a 9 iron or putting. It is the essence of the right way to swing a golf club.

Recently I found a unique piece of new golf equipment called the Perfect Connextion that will ONLY allow a golfer to swing with the power triangle. It was designed by Carl Rabito, PGA Master Teaching Professional, and it literally locks your arms in place and teaches them how to fold perfectly as you release after impact.

It destroys the chicken shot and builds a repeatable, muscle-memory foundation for a great swing.

There will always be someone out there selling new golf equipment. The real question is are you ever going to let a better golfer play with all that new stuff???

You've heard about it, maybe even read about it. Now discover the golf swing training aid that has changed the game for TENS OF THOUSANDS. The Perfect Connextion is stunning. And now, just for reading this article, you can get it at a huge discount with TWO FREE BONUSES and 7 FREE ONLINE LESSONS by visiting http://www.tabinteractive.net/golf1.html, make sure you use PIN #PSCR12382 for your discount!

This reaction from the retail industry was triggered after two of the industry’s largest manufacturers, Callaway Golf and Acushnet Co. recently posted below average results for the second quarter – a period that is usually one of the most prolific in the calendar for golf equipment manufacturers. Fortunately, both manufacturers experienced considerable growth overseas in Q2, allowing both Callaway and Acushnet to offset the U.S. decline against foreign growth in sales.

Unseasonal weather conditions in key golfing areas has also affected golf equipment sales in addition to new USGA restrictions hindering product development.

Golf equipment manufacturers and retails agree that consumers are delaying the purchase of significant items such as complete golf sets – Callaway has recently dropped the prices on many of its high-end lines to spark consumer spending. Callaway was also responsible for incentivising golfers who purchased a golf driver with $100 of free petrol

This seasons latest innovation, adjustable golf clubs, has received a poor take-up from consumers who are finding it hard to justify an initial outlay of up to $1,000. Forgan of St. Andrews, an online custom fit website is offering a complete custom fit service on its latest range of golf clubs – including the impressive looking series three, triangular driver. Massive discounts are typically applied towards the end of a season to make way for new lines – something which couldn’t come quick enough to spark demand in the market.

Callaway Golf for example has announced that certain lines from next seasons range will be available sooner than previously expected – a new driver from the golf clubs manufacturer is expected to launch in time for the holiday season.

Buying the right gear to play the game of golf is not that hard. All it takes is for you to look at the right place and receiving worth for one's money. You can check the community directory or ask somebody for directions on how to get there. Here are some tips buying golf equipment:

1. Before you start buying, it is best to first determine your budget for it. There are many brands offered and this is sometimes the determining reason which will make you do well in the green or not.

2. How regularly will you use it is another reason. It doesn't take that much to upkeep golf equipment because all you need is a roller brush or a small towel. If you are just starting out in golf, the brand does not matter but it will later on as you decide to invest more in the sport.

3. Most golf shops advertise brand new and used gear. If you can't afford a new set, it is advisable to first begin with a used one then save up for a brand new one later on.

4. Some people can't tell the difference how one brand is better than another. If you have that issue, you should ask the sales person for help because that individual is more familiar with what is available in the store.

5. Buying golf equipment can be challenging. By looking in more than one store, you can possibly get a good deal or find an item that is cheaper in one store than the one down the street.

6. Golf specialty stores are just one place where one can get good merchandise. The other is via the internet. There are many websites that also specialize in selling brand new and second hand equipment. You can order it online and have it delivered to your doorstep. Another way of doing, which may not carry a whole line of things for golf, are auction sites where you can bid on a certain item and if you are the winning bidder, you will also be able to get it in a few days.

7. Some experts who have played golf for some time prefer to sell the old equipment to somebody which saves money in paying for a new one. If you ask around, there is a prospect that you will be fortunate to get it at a good price which is a far better deal then getting it from any golf store.

Junior golfers plus equipment makes it hard for parents to choose their equipment. Juniors need to learn the game before they get the gear and they need to know about different parts of the course as well. As with any other sport, there will be a time where the player has to adjust to the game.

There are only a hand full of people that can start a sport and rise to the top quick. Although, sports usually make a starter to learn more and more about the sport before they start to go in the sport which they are studying. There are a lot of sports that can be taught while the learner is still a child and others as adults. Golf can go either way, but in this instance it will be the juniors and children, because this is what junior golf refers to.

Starters are those who are not familiar to the sport in which they are learning, and those are the ones who will learn more about it, when a starter first looks at golf they might not like it. After knowing that the learner is a junior, we can say that since they are also a beginner, they are most probably not aware of what goes on in the game. By discovering the easiest ways to explain to a kid, parents are able to teach the easy basics of golf to their kids. It will be of good interest to teach them the way of the clubs and the point of the game. This leads into the area where the kid will need to start golfing. Equipment should only be bought after the starter has been briefed and shows potential in the sport.

In many cases, children will be very excited to try a new sport, but it is important to teach them the game before spending money on the equipment and then they don't want to learn. In addition, it can be helpful to have the youth on hand when shopping for their clubs and equipment that are going to be needed in playing the sport, and this is mainly because they can pick out which pieces of equipment they are most likely to use. For many parents, this is helpful because they want to make sure that the items that are picked out will be used by the child, and in many cases aesthetics can play into that.

When it comes to observing junior golf + beginners + equipment, it is necessary that people look at all components in order to ensure that the child have everything needed to play.

If you are a serious golfer, your equipment is likely one of your favorite possessions.

This makes it highly important to be informed when shopping for any type of golf equipment. Golf equipment need not be highly expensive and you can buy it from specialized stores or order it online.

Golf Equipment That You Cannot Live Without

There are literally thousands of golf accessories and gadgets that can be purchased for both the game and pleasure. Some items are totally unnecessary, yet others are vital to the game. This article will just be a small down payment on this subject.

The Ball

Obviously, you cannot play golf without one.

Believe it or not, there are dozens of manufacturers and companies that sell hundreds of different types of golf balls. For those of you new to the game, the fact that there are so many different types of golf balls is probably a bit surprising and confusing. The standard size for a golf ball must be 1.62'' in diameter and have a maximum weight of 1.68 oz.

And for any particular ball to be used in a professional game, it must be approved by the United States Golf Association (USGA). Obviously, if you are not involved in tournaments or professional games then you may use any ball you wish on the field.

But the rules are so strict for golf tournaments that if a player was found using a ball that was not approved by the USGA, he or she would be immediately disqualified. However, most balls sold by major manufacturers at sporting supply stores are typically USGA approved.

Other Vital Golf Accessories: Tees & Divot-Repair Tool

Besides golf balls being an obvious requirement to play the game, there are two other items that should always be a part of your time on the course: A bag of tees and a divot-repair tool.

The Tee

On the very first shot of each hole, you are allowed to place the golf ball on top of a tee. This tee is simply a wooden peg that is elevated once it is stuck in the ground. The top surface of the tee is flat so that the golf ball is placed securely on it, ready for a clean swing. Tees are very cheap and come in packages of twenty or thirty, for just a few dollars.

Divot-Repair Tool

A divot-repair tool is a device that will help you repair any dents created in the green. The green is a very tidy and well maintained area where the whole is located at. And many swings will chop a small section of it away, which should be replaced by the player using a divot tool.
